Summary

Situation

Many students struggle with career navigation due to a lack of direct support from professionals and educators. Existing job-searching apps focus on listings and messaging but leave students to figure out career paths on their own.

Task

Bridge provides a space where professionals showcase their experience, educators connect students to relevant mentors, and students explore careers with structured support. The platform curates professional connections tailored to students’ interests.

The goal is to create a platform that bridges the gap between students, educators, and professionals, making career exploration more accessible and guided.

Action

This approach fosters meaningful career exploration, reducing the uncertainty students face when navigating job opportunities alone.

Result

How might we better organize events that include more diverse options for students to choose from?

How might we better try to understand the wants and needs of students looking for what they want to do in the future?

How
Might
We?

How might we expand the lines of communication to a wider range of job specialists to come and talk to these students about their jobs?

Interviews

  • Established communication channels between students and those in charge of organizing events

  • Features that help students navigate the multitude of options and connect with specialists or counselors who can provide personalized guidance

  • Design the platform in a way that facilitates communication, ensuring that students' voices are heard, and educators are well-informed about students' interests.

After pitching our ideas to a college advisor and a high school student, the Career Networking Website was the most suitable for their needs. The interviewees stressed the desire for smoother communication in career exploration. This highlighted the need for a website that fosters simple easy dialogue between students, educators, and professionals. What I learned

This project was a transformative experience that deepened my understanding of UX Design. Starting from square one sparked my passion for solving user problems through creative and impactful solutions. Working through every stage of the design process not only expanded my problem-solving skills but also solidified my dedication to both UX Design and UX Research. One of the most valuable aspects of this experience was collaborating with an incredible team over 10 weeks. Together, we navigated the challenges of balancing multiple responsibilities, resolving differing opinions, and experimenting with design ideas. There were moments where I had to confront difficult decisions—whether to prioritize efficiency over empathy, accommodate personal circumstances, or manage frustrations. These experiences taught me the importance of communication, understanding, and compromise in creating a design everyone is proud of. Ultimately, this project strengthened both my technical skills and interpersonal abilities, giving me lessons I will carry forward as I continue to grow as a UX Designer.
