Beli is one of the fastest-growing food apps in the country. It helps you rank restaurants, build organized lists, and discover where your friends are eating. The individual experience is excellent. The social layer is growing, but I discovered an interesting gap worth addressing.

"Going out to eat is almost never a solo decicion"

The Insight

Beli already has everything it needs to answer the group question. This feature is about surfacing what's already there.

Every user's taste profile is a rich data set, cuisines ranked by preference, price points, neighborhood history, bookmark patterns, and dining tags. A collaborative taste profile doesn't require new data collection. It requires a new surface for existing data, applied to the group.

The Feature

Group Taste: a shared profile generated from two or more Beli users, built for the moment when a group needs to decide where to eat together.

01 — Build Your Group

Select friends from your Beli network. As you add each person, the group profile updates in real time, showing immediate overlap in cuisine preferences and price range before you've finished selecting. The feedback is instant: you know before you commit whether this group has strong shared taste or whether you'll need to compromise.

02 — Group Taste Profile

The combined view. Shows the group's shared top cuisines ranked by collective preference strength, the price range where everyone is comfortable, the vibe tags the group uses most (date night, casual, adventurous), and restaurants that all members have rated highly but haven't visited together.

Each member's individual match percentage is visible, so you can see at a glance where the overlap is strong and where someone is being accommodating.

03 — Group Discovery

Restaurant recommendations tuned to the group, not the individual. Each result shows a group match score and a one-line reason: "All 4 of you love Japanese" or "3 of you have this bookmarked" or "Everyone's price range works here." One tap shares the pick with the group.

Why it fits Beli

This isn't a new direction for the product. Beli is already a social dining app — it already tracks friend ratings, match scores, and shared bookmarks. Group Taste extends the social layer from passive observation (seeing what friends eat) to active coordination (deciding where to eat together). The infrastructure exists. The surface doesn't yet.

The feature also addresses one of Beli's biggest growth opportunities: making the app useful in the moment of decision, not just in the moment of reflection. Right now Beli is where you go after dinner. Group Taste makes it where you go before.
